Letter from Principal

Although many Catholic schools offer family-friendly environments, few schools can compare to St. Mary School in Westphalia where, since 1836, generation after generation of local children have received an excellent academic and spiritual education. As you will see when you walk through our halls or talk to our students and parents, we truly are a family school.

A lot has changed since we first opened our doors, but our commitment to academic excellence and Christ-centered spiritual development, remain steadfast.

With 264 students in kindergarten through 6th grade, St. Mary School offers a core high school preparatory curriculum, inspiring enrichment courses, and all the tools your child will need to succeed in the 21st century, such as a cutting-edge media center and technology program.

What continues to make St. Mary unique, however, is the way our students not only learn about their faith – they learn how to love their faith. We nourish the seeds of faith planted in each child by their parents and help these seeds continue to grow.

We are dedicated to giving your child a solid foundation and committed to making Catholic education feasible for you. We look forward to welcoming you to our family.

Mission

We will come to know God, love God, and serve God and his people.

Academics

Our strong academic curriculum for children in kindergarten through 6th grade focuses on core high school preparatory courses including reading writing, math, social studies and science. We also offer music, art, physical education and technology classes. Our cutting-edge media center is funded for ongoing upgrades in technology.

At St. Mary we strive to teach children at all levels of academic ability. Our highly qualified, certified and caring teachers reach children at all levels of academic ability, including identifying students who need extra assistance or interventions early in their educational journey.

Faith

In addition to regular daily religious instruction, St. Mary offers weekly eucharistic adoration, sacramental preparation and countless Christian service opportunities. Our Catholic identity is reflected in our activities as well as our academics. We also teach our students how to use prayer in their daily lives, by praying in the classroom, and as a school, and encouraging prayer for things that happen each day or for extended family members.

Enrichment

Our students are encouraged to explore their interests both inside and outside the classroom. We have several clubs including Pro-life Club, Young Disciples Club, Columbian Squires Club and Drama Club. We also offer band (in partnership with Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools), boys and girls choir, boys and girls basketball, and volleyball. Many other sports are available through the Lansing Catholic Youth Activities Conference.

If you are interested in sending your child to Catholic school but are concerned about the cost, come talk to us. Tuition assistance including financial aid and scholarships are available.
